Movable sea container sports centres, China

Included (formerly CMC, Compassion for Migrant Children) is a China based international charity that looks after the needs of the children of migrant workers, who are often denied access to the wider opportunities and services of the cities they live in.

With the charity’s founder Jonathan Hursh, SCABAL was asked to kick-start the design of mobile structures which can be constructed locally, quickly and economically to provide education, sports and community facilities for migrant families whilst retaining the ability to be redeployed anytime in response to the uncertainties that come with the itinerant nature of the charity’s clientele, the inability to secure land long-term and the rapid development of Chinese cities.

Designs for bespoke migratable sea-container sports halls of varying capacity and small portable purpose-made container community centres – see the Heiqiao Community Cube Center – http://included.org/
