Philip Hutton

Joining SCABAL in July 2016, Philip has been involved in drawing and modelling SCABAL’s education projects in India and since January has been working on the conversion of Fordham Abbey, a Georgian Manor House and farm complex in Cambridgeshire. He has coordinated the final touches, graphic design and content management of SCABAL’s new website, which launched in May 2017.

Through his inexhaustible interest in historic architecture he has authored several case-studies and expands his knowledge through membership of the Georgian Group and through giving talks to studio. These include the unusual structural challenges he faced in the restoration of a late Georgian townhouse, describing the innovative and forensic approach required concerning historic construction methods of flint walling combined with banded brick courses and quoins.

Philip studied architecture at the Liverpool School of Art, where he continues to be a visiting critic for the degree school.
