Domestic gallery
Twin-flat makeover, Kensington, London
Two flats become one with moving walls, peeping cupboards and its own art gallery.
The lateral conversion spans the third floors of two houses, yielding a total area of 160m2. A collection of 20th century paintings and sculpture required a reinforced domestic gallery in the front part, bedrooms in the back.
Fibrous plaster, whitened birch-faced plywood, American black walnut, masur birch veneer, aspen veneer, corian, polished plaster and stiffened lace.
