Refurb creating Early Years and a new canopy

In winter 2018, SCABAL were approached by Brid McDaid, St Agnes’ Headteacher, to apply for LCVAP funding through the Diocese of Westminster (DoW) to make an Early Year’s Centre out of the passage between their existing nursery and reception classrooms, to fashion new flows between the two, to strengthen collaboration and manage staffing.

The funding bid succeeded in the spring and SCABAL’s bold, low-cost makeover of this inter-war school building, was  completed same year in December.

The new pink open GRP canopy replaces the tired old bus-stop acrylic one and, with soft playground surfacing, enables outdoor play all children from both classrooms come rain or shine.

At the other end of the school,  the newish hall’s hopeless acoustics are tackled using sound absorbing sky-panels fixed high on the walls and ceiling.
